Question : Why is the time between Magrib azaan & iqamah
so short whereas the difference in other salaah is generally about 15 mins?
& what time does the period for an ada salaah end for each salaah?
Answer : Every Salaah has a Mustahab (preferable) time for it to be performed in and it is Mustahab to perform Maghrib Salaah as soon as it’s time arrives because Rasoolullah (salallahu alaihi wa sallam) has mentioned in a Hadeeth, “My Ummah will remain with goodness as long as they don’t delay their Maghrib Salaah until the stars become entangled.” (Sunan Abu Dawood, Vol.1, pg.60) There is no Sunnah or Nafl Salaah before the Fardh of Maghrib according to the Hanafi Mazhab, hence Maghrib Salaah is performed immediately after the Azaan in Masaajid. The break of “15 minutes” between the Azaan and other Salaahs besides Maghrib is for the Sunnah-e-Muakkadah and Ghair Muakkadah before the Fardh Salaahs to be performed. This particular timing is set only for suitability and is not a Shar’ee command.
Adaa refers to performing a Salaah in the time established by the Shariah as the time to perform it i.e. to perform Salaah in its correct time. The Adaa times of Salaah in brief are as follows:
Fajr- from Subh Saadiq until the sun rises to shine.
Zohr- from the descent of the sun until an object becomes twice its shadow length besides its original shadow length.
Asr- from the end of the time of Zohr until the sun sets.
Maghrib- from the end of the time of Asr until Shafaq sets.
Esha- from the end of Maghrib until Fajr begins.
If one performs the respective Salaah anytime during these intervals, it will be considered Adaa and not Qadhaa (expired).
